FAQ

What does Relic do?

Relic helps you view, label, and take notes of the many PDF files in your local folder. It records your label, notes, and PDF cover images in an IndexedDB file that resides in your browser cache.

Isn’t that dangerous? I regularly purge my browser caches.

That’s why Relic is equipped with database backup JSON export and import features.

Do I have to upload my files somewhere?

No, you don’t. Relic just reads your local folder upon your permission. No files are uploaded.

Can Relic run on my localhost?

Yes, it runs on any host.

Can I access Relic on a mobile browser?

Technically, you can. But the only use case Relic is meant for is literature study done on computers.

Wait a sec. So, Relic only works on PDF files?

Yes, you’re right. So far Relic only works on PDF files. Support for EPUB and CBZ may ship later in the future tho.
